An elderly Indian farmer who vowed not to marry until he passed his school exams has just failed them for the 38th time.

Shiv Charan Yadav, 73, of Kohari, Rajasthan, has been flunking his exams since 1969, reports Metro News.

This year, he scored 103 marks out of a possible 600 in the exam, which is aimed at 15-year-olds.

Yadav, now revising for his 39th attempt, said: “Once I pass I want to get married to a girl who’s under 30.”

Teen didn’t know his neck was broken for ten years.

A sports-mad boy led a normal life for 10 years - despite being unaware he had a broken neck.

Alfie Tyson-Brown, 14, played rugby, surfed, went mountain biking and rode rollercoasters, reports the Daily Mirror.

But the injury - which probably happened while playing as a child - could have killed him at any time.

It was found only when he had a hospital scan after suffering blackouts and poor co-ordination.

He was immediately sent for an emergency three and a half hour operation to pin the bone.

Alfie, of Wimborne, Dorset, said: “All of a sudden I was being strapped down so I couldn’t move and had a neck brace put on. I was really frightened.”

Surgeon Evan Davies, of Southampton General Hospital, said: “I’ve never seen anything like it.

“It was incredibly frightening - I was aware that if I got it wrong he could either have a stroke or be paralysed.”

Alfie’s dad Chris Brown said: “It is a miracle he is still alive.”

Robber calls police when he gets robbed.

image hosted by ImageVenue.com

A German robber called police when a taxi driver he tried to rob turned the tables and robbed him instead.

Police who answered the call from Albert Hoffmueller, 28, turned up at the taxi rank to find the taxi driver still sitting in his locked cab.

The cabbie had Hoffmueller’s wallet while the would-be-thief stood outside in Aldenhoven in North Rhine Westphalia.

The wallet was returned to Hoffmueller along with the news that he will face charges for attempted robbery.

No charges will be made against the taxi driver who claims he only kept the wallet for the purposes of identifying the crook.

Maybe there’s something in the town water.

A Welsh school teacher has five sets of twins among her 20 pupils.

All live within a mile of each other and were born in the same six months, reports the Daily Mirror.

Three pairs of twins are identical causing teacher Fran Thomas a real headache in her Flying Start nursery group at Pembroke Dock Community School in West Wales..

She said: “There must be something in the water. I’ve never heard of five sets of twins in a class.

“It was quite a shock when they first arrived for school. It was like we were seeing double.”

The twins are Mavis and Ollie Harwood, two; Finlay and Charlie Jones, three; Callum and Damian Bugby, two; Kai and Callum Blackhouse, three on Friday; and Rebekah and Teagan Wheatley, three.

The odds against finding so many twins in the same class are sky high.

For every 100 pregnancies only three result in multiple births for mums aged 25 to 29, five for those 35 to 39.

Man wakes up at his own funeral!

A presumed-dead 87-year-old man in Taiwan gave his relatives a shock – when he woke up as they prepared for his funeral.

The man’s relatives were in a Buddhist mourning hall, reciting prayers over the dead body, when it gasped and woke up, the Shanghai Daily reports.

The family had been told by the hospital which had been treating the man – who was long-term bedridden – that the only thing keeping him alive were oxygen hoses, and that he would die quickly if they were removed. The family opted to take him out of the hospital so that he could die at home.

That plan was going swimmingly – as they removed the oxygen hoses, dressed him in funeral clothes, and placed him in the mourning hall – until he started breathing heavily.

The family sent him back to the hospital. Doctors are reportedly baffled as to his impressive recovery.

“Dracula’s castle” returned back to former Romanian royal family.

Romania’s government on Thursday defended its decision to return “Dracula’s Castle” to members of the former royal family, denying allegations that the decision was illegal.

The castle, famous for its links to a 15th-century medieval ruler who inspired Bram Stoker’s “Dracula,” was confiscated in 1948 by the former communist regime.

“When it comes to property confiscated by the communists, I as a prime minister don’t have any problems with returning it,” said Prime Minister Calin Popescu Tariceanu.

Culture Minister Adrian Iorgulescu said the castle was legally returned last year to heirs of Princess Ileana, its last owner. He noted that it was approved by the Justice Ministry and a national agency for returning confiscated assets.

“We are convinced that the property restitution was done correctly,” he said.

An opposition-dominated legislative panel had argued the restitution was unlawful because of procedural errors.

“How is it possible that the restitution of a national treasure be done by a museum administering the castle,” said Dumitru Puchianu, a lawmaker with the Democratic Party, which was recently expelled from the Cabinet.

The 14th-century fortress is associated with Prince “Vlad the Impaler,” whose cruelty inspired Stoker’s vampire Count Dracula. Legend has it that Vlad, who earned his nickname because of the way he tortured his enemies, spent one night there.

The new owner, New York-based architect Dominic Habsburg, signed a deal pledging to keep the castle open to visitors for three years. He later offered to sell it to local authorities for $80 million. His lawyer also rejected the lawmakers’ criticism.

“The (lawmakers panel’s) decision is wrong. It’s a political one and it proves that private property is not respected in Romania,” Corin Trandafir said.

The fortress, perched high on a rock and surrounded by snowcapped mountains in southern Transylvania, is one of Romania’s top tourist attractions, visited by 400,000 people each year.

In recent years, the castle — complete with occasional glimpses of bats flying around its ramparts in the twilight — has attracted movie makers as a backdrop for films about Dracula and other horror themes.

If you’re wanted by police, don’t get married in a courthouse.

image hosted by ImageVenue.com

Jonathan Franklin Hunter’s wedding at the courthouse here was a quick, no-frills affair Friday. He exchanged vows. He kissed his bride.

But the Hunters’ plan for a romantic evening on the beach was ruined within minutes.

Several Manatee County sheriff’s deputies confronted the bridegroom with a warrant. They arrested Hunter, 21, on suspicion of violating a domestic violence injunction his sister filed in 2005.

Hunter left the courthouse in a patrol car and wearing handcuffs. Bailiffs would not let his bride kiss or hug him goodbye.

Hunter’s family was angry, saying deputies could have arrested Hunter outside the courthouse.

Folks get married at the courthouse every day, drawing oohs and aahs from courthouse employees admiring dressed-up couples. But the weddings rarely generate as much buzz as Hunter’s hitch.

“It was embarrassing. I was shocked. Everyone was looking at us. I wanted to run out of there,” Hunter’s wife, Whitney Hunter, 19, said Saturday.

She and her husband both cried. Whitney spent Friday night with her mother.

The wedding was spur-of-the-moment. The couple dated for a year. Hunter proposed twice just weeks ago at a beach house. The first time, he did not have a ring, which he offered the second time he dropped to a knee.

The Hunters planned to spend Friday evening on Anna Maria Island—dinner, a beach house, pictures.

Jonathan Hunter was released Saturday from jail on $5,000 bail. His new wife said she was glad to have him back.

Hunter’s sister, Tabatha Miller, 27, filed domestic violence court papers in 2005, barring her brother from contact with her. But he and Miller have seen each other regularly since then, Jonathan Hunter said.

Miller said she has no sympathy for her brother. Her father-in-law alerted authorities that they could find Hunter at the courthouse.

Jonathan Hunter said in a written statement to authorities Friday that he thought he and his sister had put their problems behind them a long time ago.
