Beyonce Knowles may have lost the Oscar but her acting skills are good enough to get her n
ominated for the oscar in the first place.
She is a wonderful singer and she may have many idols and muses… but what about movies… who does she look upto for inspiration.
She says
‘I would have to say Barbra Streisand and Diana Ross in Mahogany and all the other movies. They were singers and they were successful and did not have to act, financially or for any other reasons, but they did because they wanted to and they loved it and were talented and gifted at it. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with combining music and film. I think it’s great when you’re able to act and sing. But I do want to eventually do a movie where I’m not a singer.’
Dont worry girl… if you are good enough you will get enough chances to prove your versatility.

Pamela Denise Anderson turns 40 today. The Canadian born actress has come a long way as an actress, pin-up, sex-symbol, model, producer, TV Personality and author… too many feathers in her crowded cap… isnt it?
She was born in Ladysmith, British Columbia, 90 km northwest of Victoria,
British Columbia, Canada, to Carol, a waitress, and Barry Anderson, a furnace repairman. Her great-grandfather, Juho Hyytiäinen, was Finnish, a native of Saarijärvi, and left Finland in 1908.
The newborn Anderson won fame as the nation’s “Centennial Baby”, as she was thought, incorrectly, to have been the first baby born on Canada’s Centennial Day (she was born at 4:08 in the morning).
She was spotted at a Canadian football game; at some point during the game she was shown on the stadium screen wearing a Labatt’s t-shirt, causing the crowd to cheer for the twenty one year old Anderson. She was taken down to the field to get an ovation from the crowd. Labatt’s immediately offered Anderson a modeling contract and she accepted: soon she was on posters in every bar in Canada.
In late 1989, Pamela decided to model for Playboy magazine: she appeared on the October 1989 cover (credited as Pamela Anderson Ilicic) and decided to move to Los Angeles to continue her modeling career. She was the February 1990 playmate and has appeared in Playboy several times in the 1990s and more recently.
After her move to Los Angeles, Anderson bleached her brunette hair blonde and underwent breast augmentation. In 1991, she landed a minor role on the United States’s hit television sitcom, Home Improvement (1991-1997). Having gained viewer attention, she landed the role of C.J. Parker (1992-1997) on Baywatch, and left Home Improvement after its second season.
And rest as they say is History!

Two German teenagers joined the massed ranks of the criminally incompetent, when they robbed a girl but accidentally left their own pictures behind for police on a discarded mobile phone.
After stealing a 15-year-old’s shoes, money and mobile phone, the two older girls - not quite understanding the nature of robberym - gave her an old mobile phone, police in the western city of Bochum said on Wednesday.
But the two 17-year-olds had forgotten the phone had their own photos, striking smiley poses, which police published online on Tuesday in an effort to find the culprits.
The two muggers turned themselves in almost simultaneously when the pictures appeared on the evening news.
‘One girl was brought down by her father after he saw her on the television,’ said police spokesman Frank Plewka.
‘Today the pictures were in the papers, so the father’s phone has been ringing all day, because everyone recognized them.’

A French-built, steam-powered car — believed to be the world’s oldest working car — is for sale in California.
The car, built in 1884, is expected to fetch between $1.5 million and $2 million when it is auctioned off Aug. 19 in Pebble Beach, CNN reported.
The De Dion-Bouton et Trepardoux, nicknamed “La Marquise,” has had only two owners beside its original one, French Count De Dion, who was one of the car company’s founders. The car is fueled by coal, wood and paper, and runs on solid rubber tires on metal wheels. It can go as fast as 38 mph.
“That’s as fast as you want to go,” said David Gooding, founder of the auction company. “It feels like going 80 (mph) or 90 mph in a newer automobile. And by newer, I mean 1910.”
There may be some other steam-powered vehicles still around that run, but they are essentially rail cars without rails and arguably aren’t automobiles, CNN said.

New York police arrested two men who they claim stole the bone of a fourth-century saint from a church.
John Angelis and Georgiou Kostas allegedly took a silver box that supposedly contains the ankle bone of St. Demetrius from a church named after the saint and then sold the object to a pawn shop, the New York Post reported.
Police found the object at the pawn shop and traced it back to the suspects, who were charged with possession of stolen property. Kostas was also charged with grand larceny charges.

A Cottonwood, Calif., man who was convicted of shooting his wife after she failed to renew his driver’s license has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.
Gary Alan Hemsted, who admitted to using the .22-caliber rifle to shoot his wife on Aug. 2, 2005, pleaded no contest to attempted voluntary manslaughter, the Redding (Calif.) Record-Searchlight reported Thursday.
Shasta County, Calif., Deputy District Attorney Curtis Woods said Hemsted will be required to serve 85 percent of his sentence before he is eligible for parole, but defense attorney Richard Maxion said 796 days of jail custody and good behavior credits are being taken off the sentence, reducing it to a little more than six years.
Prosecutors said Hemsted, a truck driver, shot his wife after blaming her for a citation he received for driving with an expired license. Lisa Hemsted, who was struck in the right thigh by the bullet, did not attend the sentencing.

A couple were told they could not get their TV repaired under their guarantee - as it had fallen victim to passive smoking.
David and Karen Benzies, from Sighthill, were left stunned when an engineer blamed nicotine as the source of the faults with their two-year-old set.
They were then told that their three-year guarantee did not protect their set from damage caused by cigarettes.
